How to Read a Peptide Study

The four questions that catch most bad claims — species, sample size, blinding, and endpoint type.

Question 1: What species?

A large fraction of peptide content online traces to rodent or cell-culture studies. Rodent efficacy results routinely fail to translate to humans; cell-culture results are hypotheses, not evidence of effect. Every entry on this site states its evidence’s species.

Question 2: How many participants?

Small trials (n<50) are noise-prone; a striking result in a small trial is more likely to be noise than the same result in a large one. Registrational trials run in the thousands for a reason.

Question 3: Was it blinded and controlled?

For subjective endpoints — energy, mood, appearance, recovery — unblinded designs are close to meaningless. If a study has no control group, it measures expectation as much as the compound.

Question 4: Endpoint or biomarker?

A change in GH level, AMPK activation, or a wound-assay metric shows a mechanism engaged. Fat lost, fractures prevented, or pain reduced are outcomes. Most peptide claims quietly substitute the first for the second.
